2024 CARD Program Applications Open

The Centre for Advanced Referee Development (CARD) is in the application intake phase for the 2024 season. The program in coordination with Alberta Soccer would like to invite interested referees in Southern Alberta to apply to join the program.

What is the Purpose of CARD?
The CARD Program is a high-level referee program that works at developing and improving officials to referee the highest-level appointments in the province. This includes competitions such as the newly-formed semi-professional League1 Alberta, as well as Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL), Alberta Youth Soccer League (AYSL), and Collegiate Soccer (USports & ACAC). The program also is designed to help elite talent advance to the Canada Soccer level and higher with the opportunity to officiate in the Canadian Premier League (CPL), and potentially higher such as Major League Soccer (MLS) and FIFA International appointments.

What Does CARD Offer?
Referees in the CARD program will receive ongoing specialized training, fitness resources, clip discussions/quizzes, mentorship and coaching. Referees in this program will be given priority in match appointments in the highest provincial competitions in the province.

What Type of Referee Are You Looking For?
The CARD program is open to all ages. We are looking for fit, passionate and coachable referees who have a desire to be involved in the top levels of soccer in the province. We would specifically like to also encourage referees from historically under-represented groups in refereeing to apply to join the CARD program. This includes female referees as well as referees from visible minority backgrounds.

Who is Operating the CARD Program?
The CARD program is being operated by the Calgary District Soccer Referees Association (CDSRA) with support from Alberta Soccer as well as local leagues. For more information visit www.calgarysoccerrefs.com/programs
