Sixth Annual Hudson Cup Tournament |
| The 6th annual Hudson Cup Squash Tournament will take place Saturday, April 17, 2010 starting at 8:00 AM at Vassar College (Albany team matches will not start before 10:00 AM). The Hudson Cup is a team event open to Hudson Valley-area squash clubs and schools with four graded divisions: A (NRS rating above 4.5); B (4.1-4.5 rating); C (3.6-4.0 rating); D (3.5 and lower rating); and a D-women only division. All divisions, except D-women, are open to men, women and juniors and each club may enter one or more divisions. Every team in each division must have three players.
Individual matches are best of 3 games to 11 points with point-a-rally scoring. Players should expect a minimum of 3 matches in each division and to referee succeeding matches. Each division-winning team member will receive an award. The club that places highest in the most divisions will be the Hudson Cup Champion for 2010.
The cost per player is $30. Division matches will be played at Vassar College and the finals at Poughkeepsie Tennis Club. Following the finals, there will be an award ceremony with light refreshments at the Poughkeepsie Tennis Club. It is anticipated that play will end around 5:00 PM.
Teams are expected to come from Vassar College (student and faculty), the Poughkeepsie Tennis Club, Simon’s Rock and Warwick. While Albany has sent only one team in each division in the past, if there is sufficient interest we might be able to send more than one team for each division. However, teams with more than one team in a division may only use the results of one team in the division, designated in advance, toward the Cup.
